Yes, Live Plant Shipments Are Limited in Many States
List Updated 10/11/26
Plants can ship within a given state, but between states, there are many regulations to consider. Plants carry risks, including insects, pathogens, and fungi that may be harmless in most areas but a threat to specific flora and fauna in the region. That's why an innocent lemon bush from South Carolina is considered a potential threat in Texas.
The other main reason for limitations is the potential some plants have to become invasive species, meaning they can out-compete native plants and threaten diversity and animal habitats.
Here's a lowdown on where we can't ship specific plants. If you order a plant to be shipped to an address in a prohibited state, we'll unfortunately have to cancel the order.
Sorry, Alaska and Hawaii: Live Plants Don't Ship There
Due to tight regulations protecting indigenous plants and animals in these regions, we are not allowed to ship any plant orders to Alaska or Hawaii addresses.
